Great shoot today! Art is a true pro. Author of the best selling business book "Smart Calling"....http://www.smart-calling.com/launch.html
I'm so pleased that he decided to stop by again. He doesn't live here, but makes it a point to come in for a photo shoot when he's "passing through"
Art is a member of NSA (National Speakers Association). A few years back, I did an audio interview with NSA member Bill Stainton http://ovationconsulting.com/
The subject was "headshots and marketing photos for professionals".... geared towards speakers, but essential information for all business people. Anyway, Art heard the interview and was inspired to call me for our first session. This is what we did today.
Put your best face forward
I'm an actor, musician and photographer... all of which have led me to what I do for a living... marketing photography, or... headshots. I've developed a style and a technique over the years that works very well. People leave my studio with great results...ALWAYS. So... enjoy

Telling the Story of What you Do
Here's an example of some shots that aren't headshots but are appropriate to what these people do.
The first two are comedian Sam Adams. The last is actually my group "Better than Biscuits".... thought a flour fight was in order with a name like that!

Corporate Headshots
A "headshot" doesn't have to be just a shot of your "head". It can be a full-length shot or ultra close up and everywhere in between. What defines a "headshot" is the MESSAGE. A headshot must say something. The photographic subject has to connect with the viewer.
The "message" says....
I'm good at what I do.
I'm fun to work with.
This doesn't happen in a vacuum. While some people may be naturally good at projecting this message to a camera , I'd venture to guess that there are many business people out there in the real world who are not good at having their marketing photos taken.
That's where I come in.
I've spent the last 30+ years working on a technique that is guaranteed to not only help you relax in front of my camera but help you to connect with my lens.
People who look at your picture will feel an instant connection with you. They will like you and trust you the instant they see your face on your website or marketing materials.
Here are some samples from the last couple of weeks.

Back to the studio
The trend in headshots has definitely drifted towards photos that are shot outdoors. Let's face it, not everyone who owns a digital camera has a studio. I've decided to try to change that trend. A good studio shot will not only make you look like you put some effort into your headshot session, but it's just a cleaner look. Here are a couple of recent shoots that we did in the studio. Enjoy!

What an incredible eye opening beginning to Summer!
First of all, a big howdy to my old best friend Phil Clark. We hung out a LOT in High School and beyond and then just simply lost touch. Well, we've reconnected and it's so great do some catching up.
He lives in Albuquerque, NM so he's not that far away. We're gonna see if we can hook up some time this Summer.
And... here's how we're gonna do it. I'm going to do a weekend headshot shoot in Albuquerque! I'll keep you posted.
Had a great shoot with Patty Clayton yesterday for her new CD cover. Check out www.pattyclayton.com
I'll post a picture as soon as I get into work.
Ok here goes

studio stuff
Hey!! Been awhile. I've been shooting and working on my new video. Video is going to be titled "How to Shoot Killer Headshots" and it will be marketed to photographers all over the world who wish to add to their arsenal of photo skills. There are a lot of portrait/wedding photogs out there who don't know how to shoot headshots, and once they are armed with what I've got to say, they will shortly become the headshot specialists in their town. There's lots of extra income to be made from this added skill and (believe me) a headshot is way different than a portrait. So you photographers out there... keep your eyes peeled. You won't want to miss this four (4) tiered approach to being the best headshot photographer in your area.
Now.... onto this week. Shot some killer pics of opera singer Rachel Tolzman. Have a look.
